Neighborhood Art Project
The Neighborhood Art Project is a new initiative designed to encourage public art and creative placemaking in Lancaster City’s neighborhoods. A call for artists went out on Feb. 14, 2025 inviting local artists to apply for opportunities to create public art that reflects the vibrancy and diversity of the Lancaster community. The Neighborhood Art Project is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts.
The City of Lancaster invites proposals from local artists across all mediums for the Neighborhood Art Project. The year-long artist residency program encourages artists to use their creative practices to foster civic dialogue, elevate neighborhood concerns, and highlight cultural or historical stories that have been overlooked.
This program is designed to support a collective of local artists in creating temporary neighborhood art projects that engage residents in exploring the connections between art and civic government.
