WHAT WE DO
The Lancaster City Bureau of Fire – Fire Marshal Division works closely with Suppression to reduce the frequency and severity of fires and other life safety incidents.
SERVICES WE PROVIDE
The Fire Marshal Division works with residents and business owners on a variety of instances including inspections, permits, licensing, smoke detector installations and community outreach/education.
Fire Marshals are a resource for on-site fire and emergency planning for business, light industry and other commercial locations when consulted. The Fire Bureau maintains comprehensive and recurring inspection programs for school, day care, assembly, mercantile and other occupancies all subject to the currently adopted fire code provisions.
Knox Box Information
The Lancaster City Bureau of Fire requires certain properties to install Knox Boxes to ensure immediate access during emergencies, as outlined in the 2018 International Fire Code. These secure key boxes, accessible only by on-duty fire personnel, help reduce property damage and improve response times during life-saving or fire-fighting operations. Property owners can order approved Knox products directly through the Knox Company website, with orders subject to Fire Marshal approval. To learn more about acquiring and installing a Knox Box, consult the Knox Box Information document linked below under Documents & Resources.
