Fall Flushing

October 23, 2023 | Bureau of Water Department of Public Works

The City of Lancaster Department of Public Works is committed to ensuring the highest water quality standards for our customers. As part of our ongoing efforts, we are currently conducting a fall flushing within our water distribution system.

Flushing will be performed as our workload permits, after other essential and emergency work has been completed. Our dedicated teams are working diligently to flush as many hydrants as possible during the day throughout the remainder of this month.

During this flushing period, you may experience some temporary discoloration or a reduction in water pressure. We want to assure you that these occurrences are normal and are typically short-lived.

Should you have any questions or concerns about the flushing process or if you experience prolonged issues, please do not hesitate to contact our Water Quality Lab at (717) 291-4818. The lab is available to assist you Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. For any water-related emergencies outside of these hours, please call our Water Emergency number at (717) 291-4816.

We greatly appreciate your understanding and patience.
