The City of Lancaster will once again celebrate its neighborhoods with Mayor’s Neighborhood Month this May. Residents are encouraged to come together to learn more about City government programs and initiatives and celebrate the unique character and spirit of their community at a slate of events in parks in each quadrant throughout the month.
“Neighborhood Month is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate the things that make our neighborhoods special,” said Mayor Danene Sorace. “Lancaster is a diverse and vibrant place to call home.”
Throughout the month of May, the City will be hosting free community block parties and other event. The neighborhood block parties will be emceed by Hector Valdez of WLCH Radio Centro, and feature local food trucks, face painting, live mural installations, and information from the City and partner organizations.

Alongside the block parties, the City will also host a Comprehensive Plan Presentation. Attendees will also learn about what a future land use map is, how it is used, and see a draft presented by the City. Drinks and light refreshments will be provided.
Now in its fifth year, Mayor’s Neighborhood Month is part of the City’s ongoing efforts to prioritize neighborhood engagement and foster a sense of community among its residents.
“We believe that strong neighborhoods make for a strong city,” said Milzy Carrasco, Director of Neighborhood Engagement. “We’re excited to see what this month will bring and look forward to celebrating the unique qualities of each and every neighborhood in Lancaster.”
