Spring Flushing

April 14, 2022 | Bureau of Water Department of Public Works

The City of Lancaster Department of Public Works will be performing a thorough flushing of water distribution mains to promote maximum water quality.

This year flushing will take place during both daytime and nighttime hours. Day flushing will begin on Monday, April 18, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and is expected to end on Friday, May 13, 2022. Night flushing will begin on Monday, May 16, 2022, between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. and is expected to end on Friday, May 20. See below for the anticipated flushing schedule for 2022.

Flushing may cause customers to observe a slight cloudiness in the water and a reduction in water  pressure, but this occurrence should be temporary and can be remedied by running a second floor faucet for a few minutes. If customers experience cloudy water after this procedure is followed, they may report the occurrence by calling the Water Quality Lab at (717) 291-4818.
