What We Do
The Noise Control Ordinance, Section 198 of the City Code, of the City of Lancaster has been enacted for the betterment of public health, safety and general welfare of City residents and visitors. The essential function of the Noise Control Ordinance is to eliminate excessive noise levels of sound that may be detrimental to the physical, mental and social well-being of the City’s inhabitants.
The Noise Control Board is vested with the authority to grant variances (exceptions) of the Noise Control Ordinance if it deems the result of the approval will not significantly diminish the comfort, living conditions, general welfare or safety; therefore not being a public health and welfare hazard to the City of Lancaster residents.
