    The Bureau of Health inspects and licenses eateries, mobile food trucks, tattoo business, convenient stores, market, famer’s market, schools, and childcare facilities. The Bureau provides public education about mosquito borne illnesses and treats mosquito complaints in public areas and conducts inspections of garbage, rodents, insects and unsanitary living conditions.

DONE connects neighborhoods with City of Lancaster departments, programs, and partner resources to create solutions and improve the quality of life for all City of Lancaster residents. The Department of Neighborhood Engagement creates opportunities for dialogue, learning, partnership, civic leadership building, and action between the City government and neighborhood residents.

Water & Sewer

The City of Lancaster provides drinking water to 120,000 people through over 48,000 hook ups in the City and nine surrounding  municipalities, including  East Hempfield Township, East Lampeter Township, Lancaster Township, Manheim Township, Manor Township, Millersville Borough, Pequea Township, West Hempfield Township, and West Lampeter Township.

Convenient weekly curbside trash and recycling removal is provided to City residents at an affordable price.

To supplement the residential curbside recycling program, the City operates a Recycling Drop-Off Center located at 850 New Holland Ave.
